"Buckwell" (the "site", "we") publishes informational content about everyday wellbeing habits and offers a free guide to visitors who submit the form. This policy explains what data we collect, on what legal basis, how long we keep it, who else processes it, and what rights you have — including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Buckwell is an independent online publication. It is not a registered company and does not trade as one; it is operated by a private individual publisher. The controller can be reached at [email protected], and this is the address for every request under this policy.
Where the law requires the controller's full name and postal address to be disclosed — for example in response to a request from you as a data subject, or from a supervisory authority — they will be provided in full on request to that address. We deliberately do not publish a company name, registration number or office address on this site, because we do not have any: publishing invented ones would be worse than publishing none.
a) Name and email address — collected when you submit the guide request form. Purpose: to send you the requested guide and to reply to your message. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by ticking the required checkbox on the form. Both fields are necessary for this purpose: without them we cannot send the guide.
b) Phone number — optional. The form works without it and leaving it blank has no effect on receiving the guide. If you provide it, we use it only to contact you about the wellbeing content you asked for, and only where you have also ticked the separate optional consent box. Legal basis: your consent. If you give us a phone number but do not tick that box, the number is deleted along with the rest of the record and is not called.
c) Follow-up emails and calls — only where you ticked the separate optional consent box. This consent is separate from (a) on purpose: you can receive the guide without ever agreeing to be contacted again, and you can withdraw this consent at any time without losing anything.
d) Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, referring page, pages viewed and approximate region. Some of this is recorded in standard server logs, which are necessary to operate and secure the site (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Analytics and advertising measurement beyond that is only carried out where you have accepted non-essential cookies (see section 5).
We do not knowingly collect data from children, and this site is not directed at children under 16.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
To run the site we necessarily rely on service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and on our instructions:
Some of these providers are established outside the EEA. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it takes place on the basis of the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.
Essential storage is always active: it remembers your cookie choice and your language, and supports basic security. It cannot be switched off, because the site cannot function without it, and it is not used to track you across other sites.
Analytics and advertising cookies — including cookies and pixels from providers such as Google and Meta — are set only after you press "Accept all" in the cookie banner. Until you do, non-essential storage is denied by default; we implement this technically through consent mode, so advertising and analytics storage stays denied unless and until you consent. Pressing "Reject non-essential" keeps them denied, and the site continues to work normally.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser, which brings the banner back, or by writing to us.
You have the right of access to your data, and the right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.
To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. You do not need to give a reason, and exercising a right costs you nothing.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. A list of national authorities in the EEA is published by the European Data Protection Board; in the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office.
You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and where it came from, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA. To make a request, write to the address above; we will not discriminate against you for making one.
The site is served over HTTPS. Submitted data is accessible only to the publisher. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it, while noting that no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.
If this policy changes materially — for example if we begin using a new category of cookie or a new processor — we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, where the change concerns processing based on your consent, ask for consent again rather than relying on the old one.
